Bukit Brown Cemetery, Singapore.

Stepping back a week or so, back to Singapore. Â I thought I would post a group of images from one of the oldest remaining cemeteries in Singapore. Â Many of the old cemetaries are being moved or destroyed because of development. Â This one, called Bukit (meaning hill) Brown (being the former colonial owner of the property) is still intact and quite large. Â Make that very large! Â We touched on just a small section and it was very overgrown and in poor condition, which is not uncommon among chinese cemetaries. Â They do not view upkeep of the garden style cemetery the same way we do. Â They do however still make offerings and visit the graves. Â It is an amazing place!

- New water pipes being stored at the entrance to the cemetery, the first thing you see when you pull up.

- You can see new condos and construction starting to push up against the cemetery.

- “Hell money”, money that is offered and burned so the person will have wealth in the next life. Here it is blowing down the road and more or less all over this area of the cemetery.
Did you guys sleep in the cemetary?

No, we did not. It was far too creepy to stick around after dark.
